Can you apply row security at the account object level?

My users would like to secure most all users from posting activity to a certain object account, while a certain few would still be able to post to this specific object.  I know with row security you can't mix company and cost center security.  It must be one or the other.  Are there any hints or hindrances in applying account object row security?  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
