Asset Workbench - Updating source line fields

The Asset Workbench form (FAXASSET) does not allow update of the fields po number, project number and task number on the 'Source Lines' screen.

As I see this  is to protect the audit trail, if the line is added through mass addition. However I notice the field 'Source Batch' is open for update, unlike the other fields in the same region. I expect it to be protected as well. Why the update is allowed on Source Batch?
