Batch Ship Confirm R42500/R47500 not updating the sales Order status

We have instances where the batch ship confirm (R42500/R47500) doesn't update the sale order status to 560-577.  This occurs once in a while and not always. But when it happens, we have atleast 50 - 60 orders that need cleanup.  I haven't been able to track a pattern on when it will occur.  When it happens, the cardex updates successfully and the sales ledger record reflects the status update from 560-577. Inventory is released and the On Hand flag on the sales order is updated to 1.  Only the update of the sales order status from 560-577 fails.  I've checked
