Can I run Translations to another currency from my Consolidating Set of Books?

We are on 11.5.10.2.  Our Consolidating SoB is USD, but we'd like to see the balances in MXN and export them for separate reporting.  We may also need to re-input these into a new SoB at some point.  Can this be done without "hurting" our main SoB or reports in it?  Could we also Translate into other currencies for reporting, such as CAD or even EURO?
