8.1.7 RDBMS client interoperability with 10.2.0.5 RDBMS server installed in 11.2.0.4 GI

According to Note "Client / Server Interoperability Support Matrix for Different Oracle Versions (Doc ID 207303.1)" 8.1.7 RDBMS client was working (and it was supported) in conjunction with 10.2 RDBMS server. Does the previous statement apply to a scenario where the 10.2 (10.2.0.5 to be exact) RDBMS is installed in a 11.2.0.4 Grid Infrastructure where the main listener is created from the Grid HOME?
