So, we are having a 12.2 environment which basically has got this problem:

The environment (production) runs on 4 WLS nodes connecting to a RAC database. Some days, a bunch of INACTIVE sessions remain present. Usually from most of the 4 WLS nodes, but sometimes only from some. The end-user activity is very constant, and I don't know why some days many connections are left, others not. We presume the same (sort of) connections are made each day.

These remaining sessions have a lot in common; their module is "JDBC Thin Client", they all have 'SQL*Net message from client' as event, they all have no SQL_ID, and the previous PREV_SQL_ID is always the same, and they all have status INACTIVE.
