Question about changing the currency on an existing company

Can anyone offer some information on how to change the currency on a company after it has been active for quite some time? Is it possible? What are the ramifications? Are there alternatives?

A little background - the company was set up for Canada, but the currency used is US. Most of the customers are Canadian Customers, but there are shipments from US manufacturing branch plants into the Canada branch plants. No manufacturing occurs in the Canada branch plants.
