BI Publisher and Excel

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum but are there any tutorial to show how to use Bi Publisher in Excel?  I have an xml and xls template. How do I run it? I loaded the xml into the xls template and click on Excel but I did not get the expected output. I got another xls temp file with two sheets named Sheet 1 and XDO_METADATA.

Attached are what I see in the XDO_METADATA sheet
