Repository Validations settings

After applying patches 17755570 and 19239855, we are now getting an error when we add documents to a contract if the contract is past the expiration date.  It appears there is a validation setting to "Validate Effective Date of a Contract" and we are getting an Error in this situation.  Prior to the application of these patches, we were able to add and modify documents, even if it was past the contract expiration date.  Is there a setting where a warning can display rather than an error being created?  If so, where is this changed?
