Definitive list of transaction originators and the person who posted

Our auditors want a definitive list of the transaction originators and the person who posted the transaction.  The transaction originator seems to work (most of the time) for the originator but the updated by field does not retain the id of the person who posted if, for example, a global update is run.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to address this?
