tcp_recv_hiwat change not effective in guest SPARC ldom

edited Jan 20, 2017 11:14AM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) Question

Environment consists of Sun T5-2s with LDOMs and branded zones. File transfers and DB replication are slow between data centers over a 40Mb WAN. Source systems are in Anchorage, AK and destination system is in Aurora CO. RTT is 67ms. Increased tcp_recv_hiwat and tcp_xmit_hiwat on destination servers and performance improved on the primary LDOM and zones but not the guest LDOMS. The changes are displayed with ndd -get but netstat -f inet shows default window size and the performance reflects this.

Based on the bandwidth and RTT we calculated a value of 360000 was appropriate for the buffers and this allowed maximum performance in the zones.

Howdy, Stranger!
