Keeping up with updates

Hello all.

I'm just looking for ideas on how others are keeping up with updates.  I 'inherited' the JDE CNC/Sysadmin role when the previous person left the company, and I'm not quite sure what options are available to me.

I ask because I recently had to apply the year-end ESUs for payroll and 1099's and found myself having to install a plethora of older ESUs just to meet the prerequisite requirements.  I'd like to find a way to be notified of any updates that could/should be installed, so I won't have to go through such a monumental update process at year-end.
