Depreciation not backing out as expected

Hi All-

We removed the 'Depreciate' flag for 1000 assets this month. Depreciation had already run, but not final depreciation. I was under the impression, and found supporting documentation on the Support site, that depreciation can be run multiple times throughout the month and each successive time, it only picks up new/adjusted assets. However, we've run depreciation again and the depreciation already calculated for these assets still shows under financial inquiry. I would have expected either a second, reversing entry, or the original number updated to 0. We have not run final depreciation  - the period is still open.
