Missing support for xlsx output from Obiee publisher when using templates

Has anyone found a good workaround/solution for exporting excel files with output files xlsx from publisher when using excel templates to create reports.

According to oracle documentation this is not supported even in version 12C. This is very strange and disappointing.

We demand that all customers send xlsx to us, but we cannot send other formats that ancient xls ourselves with reports created by excel templates in publisher.
