Single-Thread Performance on SPARC T4-2 for Oracle Database Session

Dear Community,

we have a SPARC T4-2 (SUNW,4.36.1,OBP, 4.36.1) with 2 Physical CPUs,each 8 Core and 64 virtual processors and Solaris 11.2 ( 0.175.2.0.0.42.2 ) We are running multiple zones with identical configurations. (see below) Each zone sees all virtual processors.

I observed that the single thread performance for Oracle Workload (logical reads from Buffer cache)  is around 11 times slower than x86_64 Intel i7-4850HQ. I am aware that the x86 is much newer than the T4-2 and that the strenght of T4-2 is the high number of virtual cpus.

Questions:

1) Is the performance difference plausible?

2) Is there a way to improve single thread performance in any way for a zone? The CPU Utilization globally is very low and mpstat shows only 1-2 virtual processors at 100% utilization in USR%.

Howdy, Stranger!
