Letter Gen and CommGen in Campus Solutions 9.2

We are starting to plan our CS 9.2 upgrade and confusion exists as to whether Letter Gen remains supported.  Some people have heard CommGen is a replacement technology for Letter Gen, but I have been unable to find evidence suggesting Letter Gen is a depreciated technology or that it is unsupported with 9.2.

Could someone please confirm the status of the Letter Gen technology in CS 9.2/8.55?
