Updating metadata in BSO cube via smartview

I am updating the metadata and find that I only have access to the ASO cube via Smartview.  If the same dimension is in the BSO, then the it will update both but do not have access to update the BSO only.  When I initially created the dimension, I only specified the ASO cube, then later added the dimension to the BSO.  The members did not automatically transition to the BSO and I want them to be in sync.  Do I have to start over with that dimension and update ASO cube through smartview?
