using standby db server for reporting purpose & archive log posting is also on at the same time

Dear all,

If standby db server is being used for reporting purpose by opening it in read-only mode will archive log application go on simultaneously or it'll be affected after this?

Kindly reply with detailed steps for having both read-only mode & log posting at the same time.
