Oracle Critical Patch Updates

Hi

I am quite new to patching Oracle software and have a really simple question.  When applying the CPU's do I need to apply all of the previous CPU's or can I just apply the latest patch?  My thinking is that the latest CPU supersedes all previous CPU's.
