Is the Task Instance Identifier Property set in runtime?

In 8.1.1.5 there is a task for which we need to use the Instance Identifer in order to filter records to be shown in an applet. However, we have noticed that this property is not populated when validating the task execution from a thin client by using debugging options. Is this property populated in runtime? is there any requirement or predefault value to be set here in order to get a value?
