R12.2.4 - Do we need Intercompany setup - if we have intracompany setup between BSVs ?

AGIS_Whitepaper - In the AGIS Whitepaper - the document is saying to define intracompany and intercompany rules.

I'm confused on why we need the intercompany rule ?

Can we have the intercompany rule without the account details ?

If in the intra company I'm defined the rules between the BSV ( from debit BSV to Credit BSV) then why we need to relationship?

What if we don't define the relationship ? Will the process fail?

Is this required only for AGIS? If we are not using the AGIS , can I skip the intercompany setup?
