Populate Project ID under Custodian with All Project Statuses

In training material on PeopleSoft, it is noted that the Project ID under the "Custodian Information" section (Asset Management > Asset Transactions > Owned Assets > Basic Add > Manufacture/License/Custodian tab > Chartfields subsection) is an informational field only. We'd like to able to populate this field with any Project ID, regardless of whether it's Active or Closed, considering the field is informational. However, the spyglass/search function for Project appears to only return Active projects.

Is there a way to use this field to return all projects? Any suggestions are appreciated.
