Upgrading 11.2.0.4 RAC cluster from AIX 6.1 to 7.1. We were referred to How to Manage Oracle Grid I

We are making plans to upgrade our two node 11.2.0.4 RAC cluster from AIX 6.1 to 7.1.  We were referred to "How to Manage Oracle Grid Infrastructure During Operating System Upgrades (Doc ID 1559762.1)" which requires total node removal  of the node being upgraded and then adding it back to the cluster when OS upgrade is complete and then relilnking binaries. I was wondering if anyone has personal experience in using this doc for an OS upgrade?  This doc above refers to the "Oracle Clusterware Administration and Deployment Guide" for the steps to delete and readd a node.  The node deletion section has a step to run deinstall which will totally remove the grid home, which seems excessive if we are just temporarily removing the node, since we are going to add it
