Contract uploaded as a PDF - can it be routed for DocuSign signatures?

I have a client on v9.1 but is planning to upgrade to v 9.2 and the Demo environment is on PUM 21.  They currently upload the contracts as a PDF and then have a customization to route the contracts for signatures using DocuSign.  In 9.2, DocuSign is being integrated but they want to know if it would work with a document that is uploaded rather than being created within PS Supply Contract Management. 

My question is if the DocuSign routing and signature capability works with an uploaded document or does it only work with a document that has been created within the Supply Contract Management module.
