Restrict Access to Attachments

Hi All,

I'm fairly certain the answer is no but I looking to see if anyone knows better:

Our client is requesting the ability to grant view access to record but not allow the user to view any attachments; is this possible?

The two workarounds I'm aware of will not meet the requirement: add the attachment at the line item level and hide the tab on the view form, or, add an attachment to a hidden general comment.
