FRM-92050 After client upgraded to Java 8

We wish to roll out the latest version of Java, 8 update 121, on the users desktop PCs however I am unable to get the client to work with Forms Applications in my test 12.1.3 instance.

I am trying to use version 18121.

After downloading and installing java 8 from the apps tier I get

FRM-92050 Failed to connect to the Server /forms/lservlet -1 . If you click on details of the error I can see that there is mention made of http response 500

It is working for Java 1.7
