Is .xlsx an extension option for BI Publisher 11.1.1.7 report templates?

I tried searching the documentation and could not find mention of what extensions are allowed when creating report templates in BI Publisher. We can only upload .xls but .xlsx would compress the file size when downloading the end result of the report.
