Copying Pack Data

If we have a shipment that was packed and at the last minute we need to change a date we get a new shipment number assigned and end up losing all of the pack data.  Is there a way of preventing a shipment number from changing or is there a way to "copy" existing pack data to the new shipment number?

We are tools / apps 9.1
