Pre Payroll shows different amount than on pay stub

We had a large batch of interim payments that ran through an interim only pre-payroll.  Our journals were out of balance by the amount of a head tax that had calculated on a prior full payroll.  This did not print on the payroll register but did print on the check.  The data in the tax history is very odd as well as it shows with no gross and no document number.
