Creating ASM disks from RAID 10 volume

edited Mar 3, 2017 4:00AM in Linux Operating System (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered

Hi

We are working on a 12c environment with ASM

The storage consists of 6 drives

We would create hardware RAID 10 on those 6 drives

This would give us a single volume from where we would create 10 slices to be used as ASM disks

5 for FRA disk group and 5 for DATA disk group.

Now based on our knowledge when we partition a single disk we can only have 4 primary partitions and for ASM disks we need to have partition that is primary only. Right?

for example lets suppose after creating RAID 10 volume we do a fdisk -l and it would show us something like this ..

Howdy, Stranger!
