LISTENERS in 12c - GRID HOME and ORACLE HOME

Hi

While installing a 12c GI a listener is configured by default that runs under GI home

Can someone please explain if we need to create a listener first under ORACLE_HOME AFTER installing oracle rdbms

and BEFORE creating the database using dbca? If yes,what purpose does each of the listener serves? (one under GI HOME and one under ORACLE HOME)
