duplicate database from backup without target connect using only catalog and aux connection

Hi all,

the target database has many backups which stored in tape library, Tape library is accessable through the aux-host!

Target DB is registered with RMAN catalog, this catalog is also accessable through aux-host.

we want to duplicate the DB until time, using only (auxiliary and catalog connection) and my question are:

1- rman auxiliary sys@aux catal rman@cat

should we connect to rman using the source-host or target-host (aux)!

2- which channel type should we allocate! do we need only aux channel type tape ???

Oracle Version: 12.1.0.2 running on (SunOS 5.11 11.3 sun4v sparc sun4v)
