how do I default the life cycle phase for an item during its' creation in PIM

In our organization it is mandatory to assign Lifecycle to all the

products when they are created. Lifecycle field is not mandatory but

personalization helped to make it mandatory when one item is being created

but it does not work when more than one item is being created. This can lead

to incorrect product data which can impact our applications downstream and

can finally impact our ability to sell right configurations to customers

Is there a way to make it default?
