Bi Publisher tmp directory does not exist

[APP: bipublisher#11.1.1] TMP Directory 'xdo/tmp' from XDO property 'system-temp-dir' doesn't exist or not write enabled.

Where do we need to create the xdo/tmp directory.  Also where can I find the documentation on XDO properties,  what they mean and what files they should be in?
