Work ORder Completion updates sales order

We have a transfer order with lien type W. It creates a work order. When we do partial completion of work order it generates a line in the sales order and purchase order.

The status of the generated line is same as that of the original line when it is created. We do completion via P31114. How does this application determine what version of P4210 to call for the order to be changed?
