BI Publisher Desktop 12.2.1.2.0 (64 bit Office) did not install the BI Plugin in Word (Office 2016)

I have installed Office 2016 (Professional Plus). Word version 16.0.4498.1000 64 bit.

Downloaded the BI Publisher Desktop 12.2.1.2.0 (64 bit Office) and tried installing it. But, this does not install the BI Plugin in my Word toolbars.

When I check the list of Add-ins (File > Options > Addins > Manage COM Addins), I don't see the BI publisher addin listed either.

Have tried uninstalling, cleaning up the folders and re-installing a couple of times.

Anyone in the community faced this situation earlier? It would be of great help if you can help me troubleshoot this problem
