Basically I want to upgrade my 11.2.0.4 databases running on an Oracle 7.3 Linux server to 12.1.0.2.  My concern is should I run the preinstall package for 12.1.0.2 before installing 12cR1 on the server since I already ran the preinstall package for 11gR2.  If I should run the 12cR1 preinstall package, what will that do to my existing 11.2.0.4 databases that are running on the server?  I am fearing that 12R1 may have different kernel parameters or upgraded packages that might adversely affect my 11gR2 databases.  This will be done in both a test and production environment.
