After you have installed an Oracle Fusion Middleware suite of products, you begin using and eventually need to update or apply a patch. It is best to discover early what you have installed to begin a maintenance strategy for your environment. There are many different components installed which will have separate patches to apply. If you are applying security patches, these are released individually and may be initially difficult too understand what is applicable to your installation. The following outlines the steps to understanding what is installed in your Middleware or Oracle home for 10g, 11g and 12c:
