Uninstalling Project Costing

When we upgraded to PS v9.1 we installed Project Costing - until then we had used the project chartfield.  We are now beginning our upgrade to PS v9.2 and upper management would like to uninstall Project Costing and return to using the project field as a basic chartfield.

Has anyone attempted this? What would be the ramifications of uninstalling PC?  I have concerns on many fronts - for example, running chartfield configurator to deactivate PC BU and activity ID, updating existing transactions which have theses fields,   recognizing exisiting projects as a chartfield value only, etc.

Any insights, thoughts, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
