moving existing business units from old company to new company

HI

How to move existing business units from old company to new company with balances as of specific date(Example May 1st 2017). We are creating new company and I don't want to lose history for old company. I am reading through documentation "revising an organization" section 41.10 "changing the co. number on a business unit" and it is suggesting to run R09806 which I think will update the history also. Any suggestions?
