Oracle 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.4 upgrade question

For a huge warehouse upgrade ( 100+ TB and partitioned tables)  from 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.4 is there a need to re gather statistics for the entire database? Or is it ok to leave it and let the regular maintenance job care of it as BAU?

I am aware of the bug 15898932 (Doc ID 18255105.8).. which I am planning to address but I don't want to re gather statistics on  terrabytes of tables and global statistics etc..  I have seen this happen with my previous upgrade where the upgrade went fine but the stats gathering we started lasted for several weeks and created contention with batch jobs.
