Identify PSU version WITHOUT opatch for Client Homes

Hello,

Is there a method of determining which PSU version you are on in the client home without running OPatch? we run some auditing that doesnt run under the oracle user. But Opatch prevents you from running Opatch due to a permssions issue. Access denied. Any log, or any file we can find a pattern in?
