utilize standby for rollback of an upgrade ?

Greetings!

we have physical standby database in place and an upgrade of production from 10201 to 11204 is to do.

I think we can utilize standby database in case if we need to rollback the production database upgrade due to any unforeseen issue .... the idea is to sync standby and shutdown the production and standby both. then apply patchset4 (10g) and upgrade database to 11204 but only at production database without touching the standby database and after upgrade completes rebuild standby at 11204 level.

If It is required we can initiate failover to standby database and rebuild new standby at 10201 level and plan for the upgrade on-wards.
