Trying to install Java 8 on Solaris 10 SPARC

edited Mar 30, 2017 12:10PM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 4 commentsAnswered ✓

I was asked by the DBA to install Java 1.8 on one of our Solaris SPARC servers. It's an M4000, running Solaris 10 1/13 s10s_u11wos_24a.

I downloaded and installed jdk-8u121-solaris-sparcv9.tar.Z. The DBAs have determined they need the 32 bit version installed. The information provided states that on 64 bit systems, the 32 bit version of java must be installed prior to installing the 64 bit version.

According to everything I've been able to find, Java 8 only has the 64 bit version for SPARC.

Is there a way to get this working for them?

Thanks,

Karen Schwab
