Add new Custom Dimension to an Existing HFM application

I'm using HFM version 11.1.2.4.200.

I have an existing HFM classic application with 4 custom dimensions.  Is it possible to add an additional Custom 5 dimension to an existing application? 
Per the HFM Admin guide, I extracted the application profile and added a new Custom 5 Dimension via the HFM client

Then I extracted the HFM metadata file and opened it via the HFM client

I clicked on "Edit Customs" and imported my modified application profile

I was able to view the new Custom 5 within the Metadata manager.

But when I try to load the new Metadata file (with the new Custom5) to my existing HFM application (with 4 Customs), I get the following error:
