patch wizard and merged patch question

Haven't used patch wizard in a long time as someone else looks after the application product patching but decided to look into it again for Apps Tech.

I installed and couple of Patch Wizard patches, set it up with my credentials and I then created a filter for AD recommended patches only.

I then created a list of patches from that list that were 'not applied' and selected to 'download, analyze and aggregate patch impact'.

So far so good I think and I can see the files in my staging directory.

I'm aware of merged patches but have never actually taken the time to try and create one.
