Mass Update to Unit of Measure (00/UM) UDC - Change "MT" to "M"

Greetings,

Has anyone had experience updating the unit of measure UDC for meters (MT) to a more preferred option from my client. They would prefer it to show "M". Has anyone wrote a program or know of a out of the box update program that will change a UDC?
