Confused with dates in Term Calendar 2 and Session Calendar 1 pages in Academic Calendar

As per the peoplebooks, Term/session withdrawal/cancellations refer to session calendar dates. However when i am trying to withdraw a student from "term". It is not allowing me to do the transaction without having dates configured in term calendar 2 page. After configuring the dates in Term calendar 2 page it allowed me to withdraw but it used the action reason mentioned in the session calendar 2 page. Another scenario is withdraw is not allowed without having a date for cancellation. Can someone clarify me this.
