What actions can generat a change in the date of the spfile.ora file?

I noticed that, at the o/s level, our spfile.ora reflected today's date.  I had not issued any "alter system" statements to change any parameters nor did I generate a new spfile.  Are there any other actions that can change this value?  Just curious to know if someone else is making unauthorized changes.  Thank you in advance.
