Future Dated Life Event Not Accessible

We have an employee who entered a future dated life event and did not complete it.  When the employee attempts to access the life event to complete it, she receives a message stating: "A change date was not entered for Life Event. (3001,1058) Select the Life Event again. Then enter a date on the Status Change page and Select Ok."  The employee is unable to access the existing life event to change the date.  Has anyone encountered this?  And if so, how did you resolve it?

We are on PeopleSoft 9.2, PUM/Image 21.
